Cameron Brink Left the Court After a Hit from Breanna Stewart, Her 3rd Injury in 2 Years
For Cameron Brink, the injuries keep coming: a season-ending ACL tear as a rookie, an ankle sprain in June that cost her a month, and now another early exit after a collision with Breanna Stewart. It’s been a rough stretch for the former No. 2 overall pick.

She was guarding Breanna Stewart at the six-minute mark of the fourth when Stewart lowered her shoulder into her midsection. Brink dropped to her knees, grabbed her stomach, and had to be helped off. She didn’t come back.

Cameron Brink didn’t finish Thursday’s 85-81 loss to the New York Liberty. Stewart was called for an offensive foul on the play that sent her down, and it wasn’t clear what the injury was. Brink stayed crouched on the floor for several moments before she could get to her feet.

She played 19 minutes and finished with nine points, seven rebounds, three blocks, two assists and a steal. This season she’s averaging a career-high 9.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocks.

The bad luck goes back a while. On June 15 she sprained her ankle against the Golden State Valkyries and missed a month, returning July 15 against the Minnesota Lynx. “It’s a good ankle sprain,” Sparks coach Lynne Roberts said. “I don’t anticipate her being back (soon).”

Before that, a season-ending ACL tear in her left knee cut short her rookie year in 2024, when the former No. 2 overall pick and Stanford product was averaging 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks. She started 15 games that season and none in 2025, when she struggled to find her rhythm over 19 games at just under 13 minutes a night.
