If You Want To Reconnect With Your True Self, You Must First Reconnect With Your Creator
Our God is great and He has put greatness inside each and every one of us. This is how great He is.
Most of us, if not all of us, wander the earth looking for answers regarding who we are and what our purpose in life is.
We wander and wander, and then more often than not we end up lost. We lose ourselves in a jungle of lies, expectations, pressures, and pretence. And when you lose your true self, it is not that easy to find it back.
But your true self is here. It has always been here.
This journey is not so much about finding yourself, but rather it is about reconnecting with who you truly are. But how do you reconnect with someone you have spent most of your life repressing?
First, in order to reconnect with your authentic self, we need to define what “authenticity” means.
Authenticity: Not false or copied; genuine; real. The quality of being real or true. Representing one’s true nature
Authenticity is about representing your true nature.
Who you are at your core.
Who you have always been.
But the only way you can truly know who you are, at your core, is by asking the One who created you to reveal who that is.
The truth is that we were all fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). Which means that you were created in a very particular way, with a very particular purpose that only you have been entrusted to fulfill.
There is no need to change yourself to become who society wants you to be.
And there is no need for you to do what society tells you to do. The only thing that you need to do is to accept your true authentic self the way that it has been created and embrace the path that has been made just for you.
That is what authenticity is.
Authenticity is about accepting yourself the way that you were made.
That being said, accepting your true self is not going to be such an easy task, as people will constantly try to change who you truly are for who they want you to be. But in the end, there is only One person that you can always trust to tell you the truth about who you are, and that person is none other than the One who created you.
The One who breathed life into you.
The One who gave His life away so that you could have life and live it to the full (John 10:10).
An authentic life free of fear, doubts, and insecurities. And The One who gave you this life is none other than our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Our God is great and He has put greatness inside each and every one of us. This is how great He is.
We do not deserve this great life that we are currently living. We do not deserve this greatness that is inside of us. But He gave it all to us anyway.
Because He loves us.
So if God loves us, then how come a lot of us feel so unloved?
How come we do not even love ourselves to begin with?
How come we feel worthless?
How come we do not feel good enough?
How come we lose our true authentic selves to the lies and schemes of the enemy?
“If God is for us, who can be against us?”— Romans 8:31
If you want to reconnect with your true self, first and foremost you will have to reconnect with the one who created you.
Allow God to tell you not only who you are but who He is. It is because of who He is that we are who we are.
“So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God He created them;
male and female He created them.” — Genesis 1:27
It is no coincidence that this verse repeats itself.
This verse could have ended at “So God created mankind in his own image.” But it continues, “in the image of God He created them.” It is as if God wanted to make sure that we read it right.
“Did you hear me? You were created in my image!”
You were not created by mistake.
You were not created out of the blue.
You were not created out of boredom.
You were not created just for fun.
You were created in the image of God.
You were created with greatness inside of you.
The only thing that is left for you to do is to let that greatness shine through.
Let God use you so that you can truly be everything that He created you to be.
This journey, although long and challenging, will be the most rewarding and life-changing journey you will ever embark on!
