#CatsFAIL

Here it is. The most important cat video that you'll see -- oh, let's say -- all week.

Listen up. I like cats. I like cats a lot. Also, as a freelance writer who graduated magna cum laude with special honors in literature, it’s part of my silly job to find cat videos and write about them so that I don’t starve to death. Yay!  Feel the excitement!

Actually, I do love today’s video, made by my pal Oliver Noble for The Huffington Post. It features cats trying to jump, and failing, failing bad; being just way full of fail. The video features such classics as Cat Jumping Directly Into Wall For No Apparent Reason, Cat Jumping Straight Into Mirror Because It Thinks The Cat In The Mirror Is Another Cat It Can Play With, and Cat Stupidly Falling Off Car Hood. Classics, one and all–

Awesome! Poor stupid cats who can’t jump right. But perhaps we can all learn something from this experience; from all this cat failure. For as novelist and Nobel Prize winner Samuel Becket once wrote: “Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.” And Samuel Beckett probably liked cat videos too, or would have, if he had ever seen one. And see; I’m making my degree in literature pay off!

If watching cats fall isn’t enough for you, here are some other amusing things you can do with a cat, should you happen to own one:

  1. Put your cat in an empty bathtub, along with a marble, and watch the cat chase the marble in circles to infinity.
  2. Put loops of scotch tape on your cat’s paws and watch it freak out/try to walk.
  3. Put a tube sock over your cat’s head and watch the insanity.
  4. Nota bene: if you do either (2) or (3), your cat and/or girlfriend will get very annoyed with you. But still! Funny!

…And that’s about it from me for right now. Until we meet again, you insane viral-cat-video-watching lunatics, you. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
