Angelina Jolie Has a Theory About Why So Many Geminis End Up as Actors

By

“I’m a Gemini. What are Geminis like? I think we’re mistaken as being of two faces, but we probably have 20, which is probably why a lot of us are actors. I think the mistake is the idea that there’s a real side and a not-real side, a true side or a not-true side.

I think we just have many, many sides. So we’re a little mercurial, and probably find all different kinds of people interesting, all different ways of life interesting. We’re not fixed. So I think we’re misunderstood at times, like everyone is. Everyone’s misunderstood.”

Angelina Jolie gave this answer during W Magazine’s “Screen Test” interview with Lynn Hirschberg, filmed around her role as opera legend Maria Callas in the 2024 film Maria. The magazine re-cuts the clip around her June birthday, since Jolie, born June 4, 1975, is a Gemini herself.

What starts as a throwaway astrology question turns into something sharper. The Gemini cliche is the person with two faces, one real and one performed. Jolie flips the premise. The mistake is believing one face is the true one and the rest are a mask.

By her math it’s closer to 20 sides, none of them fake, which is how she gets to actors. People who make a living moving between selves have more room to work with than a single fixed self allows.

She lands it somewhere everyone can stand. Mercurial, curious about every kind of person, never fixed, and misunderstood at times, like everyone.
