10 Reasons Why I Like Books More Than Humans
If you want them to stop, you just put the book down. People never know when to shut up and be quiet.
When I tell others, I like books more than humans, they often look at me like I’m crazy, or just laugh. So many people ask me why I love books and I wonder why don’t they? I mean seriously books are the greatest gifts to mankind and they deserve to be appreciated.
I have a confession to make, I am a bibliophile and I have come to the realization that I like books more than humans and here’s why.
1. Books are great company.
Books have always been there for me. Books will be there anytime during the day or night to comfort you in your time of need. They’re comforting and transformative. They never leave you, they are always in the same spot where you left them. I spend more time with books than with humans.
2. Books don’t disappoint you.
So many times, in my life people have let me down. People aren’t what they appear to be. Luckily with books, you can judge them based on their cover (literally). Books are so much more convenient than people because you know what you’re getting into. Each book I read, every page I turn, and every chapter I finish never fails to disappoint.
3. Books are exciting.
Whether it is a novel, mystery, sci-fi or a thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat, a good book has the power to take you places you’ve never been before. Thanks to my books, I’ve visited far away lands, periods in history and to places I have only seen in dreams. Every time you open a book, you’re instantly transported to a new world. It’s like a teleportation system for you.
4. Books teach you many lessons.
Each book, each story, each character, has something to teach you. Each book is unique, and each book has something different to offer you and something different to teach you. All the lessons I have learned with books have gotten me through so many life events, and I wish I could thank those authors who taught me those lessons.
5. Books will never judge you.
You don’t have to dress up or shave for a book. You can be at home with no makeup, no bra or pants on. Books will never tell if you look like a complete hot mess.
6. Books won’t press charges.
Sometimes you will feel the urge to punch your book, only when your favorite character dies of course. Death of book characters often leaves you scarred. I can throw books across the room when they frustrate me. If was I punch people or throw them across the room when they frustrate me as I do with some books, I’d be sitting in a jail cell pretty often.
7. Books give you many options.
You can’t choose your family, but with books, there are so many to choose from. Do you want to read horror? Do you want to read romance? A Thriller? A Novel? Poetry? Do you want to be scared to death tonight before bed? Or fall in love? The choice is yours.
8. Books are quiet.
If you want them to stop, you just put the book down. People never know when to shut up and be quiet.
9. Books will love you unconditionally.
Books make wonderful sense, and they always love you back (even when you get aggressive). People are cruel.
10. Books make you smarter.
Books may challenge you, but they’ll never expect you to do stuff outside your boundaries. Most importantly, books help you make better, more informed decisions — not bad ones. People, on the other hand, are full of bad choices. People are messy and crazy fools.
Books are the greatest things on earth.
Most book lovers love books better than people. And honestly what’s not to love. They smell great, they are reliable, they are informative, and they’re always there when you need them. Books listen and make you forget your troubles with their stories.
Books are better than humans.
