Life Is Never A Gamble With God

God loves you and He will always be there for you. He knows what’s in your heart, and as long as you ask, you will receive.

All our lives, we have been made to believe that to live is to take risks, to gamble. It makes sense: there are some things in the world that we cannot ever control. And those things, no matter how hard we try to stop them, will keep on changing around us. Sometimes, we freak out. Sometimes, we don’t. But we’ve always heard everybody telling us that we need to take a risk, we need to choose to gamble, so that we would eventually know the outcome, good or bad, and then we deal with that later on. And it would often take us so much time before we choose to try it, to risk things, even when we know it will not turn out well.

I remember these past few years when people would come up to me and ask my opinion on whether they should go with something or not. Of course, I would always be on the “choose whatever will make you happy” side. A few weeks or a few months later, some of them would come back to me telling me that what they chose didn’t really work out as much as they wanted it to.

And this is what we would always need to keep in mind whenever we choose: there will be consequences. It’s like choosing between doing good and bad, there will always be consequences. And because you made the choice, you just have to deal with whatever consequence it is that comes back to you. You cannot keep on asking people to help you choose just so, if it doesn’t work out in your favor, you can blame them at the end of the day. That shouldn’t really be how it works.

A couple of days ago, my husband said: “Love, you know, life is never a gamble with God.” I had to pause and really think about it for a second, and it actually does makes so much sense. At some point in your life, you will have to decide on something, you will have to choose. But there is no losing when you have God in your life. So basically, it’s never a gamble. You never take risks, because whatever happens, God loves you and He will always be there for you. He knows what’s in your heart, and as long as you ask, you will receive.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” (Matthew 7:7-8 NIV)

There will always be heartaches. Some choices you make may not work out as you’ve pictured them out to, but trust that God’s will is always better than yours. Pray that He guides you in everything that you do, in every choice that you make, and in every struggle that you may face. If it turns out great, then good. If it doesn’t, then there are much better things coming your way. Keep it in your heart and in your mind: it’s always a win with God. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
