50 Women Share The Beautiful Moment They Realized They’d Found Their Forever Person

24. When I’d been up for days during finals and he made me a sandwich and told me to get some rest.

“It was dissertation deadline day for me and most of his flat mates, and he’d stayed up half the night at my house the night before to help me proofread. Then in the morning he went to campus ahead of me so that as soon as I was finished I could email the dissertation to him to get printed and bound (just in case I had any travel delays). I met up with him, we handed in my dissertation, and then he gave me the key to his flat so I could let myself in while he carried on helping his flat mates with their dissertations.

I hadn’t slept in about 40 hours, or eaten in about 20. I got to his room, and there was a sandwich with a note telling me to eat it and then go to sleep, and that he loved me. It seems like such a small thing, but I couldn’t believe that in the midst of all the chaos of helping everyone, he’d thought about exactly what I needed, and that he’d even found the time to rush home and make me food! As soon as I saw that sandwich I knew I was going to marry him, and I was right—we’re getting married next month.”

25. When he calmly and compassionately handled my PTSD.

“Had mine within 30 minutes of meeting my husband:

My roommate invited him to a party at our place, and when I went to walk past him to grab something from the fridge he reached out to tickle my side (trying to be flirty). He had no idea that I have severe PTSD, and the unexpected physical contact made me jump about 3 feet away and start hyperventilating.

I was used to guys being immediately offended, or at least really weirded out, so when his reaction after I told him what was wrong/calmed down was to say ‘I’m so sorry; I had no idea…would a hug help? I feel really bad.’ I kind of started to fall for him right then…Married him 4 years later.”
