Self-Love Is A Lifelong Journey, But I’m Finally Ready For It

I've learned that self-love is so much more than pampering yourself or treating yourself to something indulgent.

Some days are better than others, but learning to love myself has been a lifetime journey on a beautiful roller coaster ride. I’ve learned that self-love is so much more than pampering yourself or treating yourself to something indulgent.

Self-love comes from making endless mistakes and being brave enough to self-reflect and change what you don’t like. Self-love comes from sitting alone in heartache and acknowledging your pain, but not falling victim to it. Self-love comes from feeding and nourishing your body with natural foods, because your body should be your temple. Self-love comes from being kind and showing empathy and compassion to others. Self-love comes with feelings of not wanting to get out of bed in the morning but forcing yourself to be grateful. Self-love comes from letting go of people in your life who are negative but praying happiness for them.

Some days are better than others, but life has shown me that I am my own biggest obstacle in life. Self-reflection has shown me that my thoughts have always taken me to dark places. I’ve never felt good enough for anyone, much less myself. I have spent too many years crying over things and people that I cannot change. I’ve always underestimated my value and importance in this life. I’ve focused too much on the flaws and imperfections about myself, rather than my positive qualities. I’ve always put others’ needs above my own and never truly had my own identity.

There will be people who just don’t like me, and that’s okay. Self-reflection has shown me that I’ve always listened to others instead of trusting my gut. I’ve hurt my own body and mind with self-inflicted pain because I felt like I deserved it. I’ve felt singled out to live a sad and lonely life because I felt unlovable.

Some days are better than others, but I’ve learned that I have amazing talents. I have endless energy and I am a hard worker. I am a selfless person who loves to help others. I am a creative free spirit who loves music. I am intelligent and have the inner fight to accomplish any goal I focus on. I love to exercise and have an amazing body that I should be proud of.

I have gained the confidence to realize that I am a wonderful mother who fought against adversity to raise her kids. I have experienced a lot of trauma in my life, but it does not define me. I am not a victim. I am inspiring, and people gravitate towards me for advice.

I will try anything once, and I love a good adventure. I am very much grounded in life, but I also have a wild side. I have a huge heart with endless love to give. I am passionate, affectionate, and a fierce supporter of dreams and passions. I am very spiritual and I know that there is more to this life than what I see in the external world.

I am grateful for the many blessings and heartaches in my life because they have all taught me to be the strong person I am. I’ve learned that I will never allow anyone to tell me that I can’t do something, because I know that I can do anything. I am beautiful inside and out, and this world is a beautiful place with endless opportunities. Some days are better than others, but I am winning at life because I can.
