Dear Future Love: I Cannot Wait For Our Story To Unfold

I’ll back you up, and I’ll let you do you. I will believe in you and in your vision, goals, and dreams. I’ll be your greatest supporter, so please trust in your capabilities and trust in me too.

Have I met you?

Are you someone I know or still a stranger in my life?

Well, I wouldn’t know the answer yet, but I’m excited to see how our story will unfold. I am taking the time to write you this letter because I know you’re out there, and I thought maybe you might need this when life finally connects me to you.

Remember that when life feels heavy, and when you’re feeling way over under the weather, I’m here. You don’t have to explain yourself or apologize for the things you’re feeling—I’ll understand. I will. You can let me sit beside you if you want, and we can talk in fluent silence. That’s how I’ll let you sort things out on your own without making you feel alone. You don’t have to worry too much, because I know life isn’t always smooth sailing, so I won’t expect you to always be okay. If you ever need some reassurance, I’m here and I’ve got you.

I’ll listen to your stories. How was your day, by the way? Are you reading this now? Well, I’m all ears. It’s not just because I want to know what’s going on in your life but because paying attention to the little things matter. I want you to be comfortable with telling me silly stuff that makes you happy, or your pet peeves, or your weird habits, or how you see life and the depths of it, your standpoint on the current news—tell me everything. Share with me your dreams, your plans, your frustrations, your inner thoughts, your love for dogs, even your ice cream (if it’s okay?) because I want to be your best friend too.

Constant change will happen throughout our lifetime, love—it’s inevitable, and I hope you’re okay with it. We will be evolving, growing, and learning as we walk through our life’s timeline. With this, I’m telling you that my perspectives will soon change, my preferences might become different from the ones I have now, and my thoughts one certain situations might sooner or later contrast from what they are today. This can happen to you too, and from what I believe, we will both flourish, grow, and change for the better. But I want one constant to remain, and that is you and me together.

Having you in my life will be an adventure for sure. It will never be boring. I imagine it full of laughter, travel, food trips, and cute gushy stuff. We’ll walk the streets of Lisbon and get lost around the cities of Japan. We’ll travel to Tromsø to get a glimpse of Aurora Borealis, we’ll tour around and visit art museums in Manila, and we’ll wake up early for a morning run in Amsterdam. We will dine in Michelin star restaurants or just settle for local street foods at lunch time, and maybe we can just grab instant noodles and popsicles at Korean marts during summer.

I’ll take lots of frozen pieces of our memories together and I’ll make you my lifetime subject. Heck, I know you’ll be my favorite portrait. I’ll laugh at your lame jokes, you’ll let me watch documentaries on Netflix that you’ll also be interested in, we’ll chase the clouds at summits, we’ll sing our hearts out to concerts, we’ll go up to sky decks and be mesmerized by city lights and skylines, we’ll go out just to see the stars, we’ll dance in the rain, we’ll have fun, and we’ll not give so many effs about everything.

After all, we’re better together. Our self-love will be sufficient, so when the day comes and our alone time will be over, we can both pour true love. That’s when our hearts will be ready to give the love we both deserve. The love that we have will be powered by our own, and that’s where the magic will happen, and we will continue to radiate more of that love to everyone when we’re together. I just hope that presently, you’re prioritizing yourself. I hope you’re taking care of your health, mentally, physically, and even spiritually. I want you to be in sync with yourself, know yourself, and completely love the “you” in you, and as for me, I’ll definitely do me.

Right this moment, I want you to understand and know me fully. I know I’m still someone who’s really hard to be with, and I have such a long way to go in communicating my emotions and in releasing everything that’s going on inside my mind. I hope you will understand and keep it easy for me to open up to you and be with you by showing me your love and care in a subtle way, as I’m never a fan of grand gestures. You’ll be in trouble with me, you’ll be mad at me, you’ll definitely get tired of me, but I’d like to see you stay through it all, because I will. I want to also let you know that the little things? They aren’t little for me. They are the big things that will last long in my memory.

Darling, you’ll be tangled in my soul. You’ll be cared for and will be supported by a woman raised by a strong and wonderful man and woman with a love that is truly undeniable. I’ll back you up, and I’ll let you do you. I will believe in you and in your vision, goals, and dreams. I’ll be your greatest supporter, so please trust in your capabilities and trust in me too. Our love will always be free flowing, and I won’t ever hinder your growth. It will be a relaxed and chill kind of love, just like jazz music playing in a coffee house. Of course, we’ll have our own differences, but we’ll always be in harmony and in tune with the beats. We’ll be a team, not just lovers. As I’m writing this, I know you get what I’m trying to say. I know we’re on the same frequency.

I’d love to meet you one day, so enjoy your ice cream—don’t let it melt. And please be patient, because someday you’ll share that gelato with me, and you will love me, and I’m telling you now, I’m about to get a scoop from your Ben & Jerry’s.

P.S. Wherever you are in the world right now, I hope you see this. I hope you’ll be loving, and I hope you’ll forever be faithful.
