JoJo Siwa Says She Called Herself a Lesbian Because of Pressure, and Only Started Dating a Man After

JoJo Siwa is reframing how she talks about her sexuality, saying the label she once used never really fit and came from outside pressure rather than her own sense of self.

She came out in 2021 and never liked calling herself a lesbian. Years later, she says the label came from pressure, some of it from inside the queer community.

Now, she says, the only word that fits is “queer.”
