One of Taylor Swift’s Closest Friends for a Decade, Dakota Johnson Turned Up to Her Wedding Celebration in All Black

Black at a wedding, from one of the bride’s tightest friends. Johnson was photographed leaving the Greenwich Hotel in New York on the afternoon of July 3, in a draped, sheer black mini with a thigh split, before heading to the couple’s celebration at Madison Square Garden.

Swift and Kelce booked the arena for up to 1,000 guests on Friday, following a smaller rehearsal dinner the night before for about 100 people at MSG’s Infosys Theater.

NYPD locked down the blocks around the Garden, guests arrived in blacked-out SUVs through tented entrances, and coverage flagged performances from Stevie Nicks and Paul McCartney, with Swift herself possibly taking the mic. The couple reportedly donated $26 million to 20 charities ahead of the weekend.

The guest list blended Swift’s inner circle with Kelce’s sports world and a long A-list tail: Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper, Selena Gomez, Ed Sheeran, Jack Antonoff, Karlie Kloss, Abigail Anderson, Hugh Grant, Mariska Hargitay and Peter Hermann, Machine Gun Kelly.

Johnson isn’t a recent addition to that world. She and Swift have been close for roughly a decade, dinners in the West Village with mutual friends like Cara Delevingne, Suki Waterhouse, and Zoë Kravitz, brothers Austin Swift and Jesse Johnson along for the night, the kind of friendship Swift almost never talks about in public.

She broke that habit in April, writing Johnson’s entry for Time’s 100 Most Influential People of 2026. “As her friend, I can vouch for her realness, but add that she’s also one of the most empathetic people I’ve ever known,” Swift wrote.
