More Photos of Spanish World Cup Winners Ferran Torres and Marcos Llorente Under the Ibiza Sun Are Captured
Spain keeps producing the same photo: two of its footballers standing a little too close, and the global press losing its mind trying to decide what it means.
Six days after Ferran Torres scored the extra-time winner that beat Argentina 1-0 in the World Cup final, he and Spain teammate Marcos Llorente turned up shirtless on a wooden jetty in Ibiza, tanned, hugging, faces close in the water. Backgrid caught it and a short clip spread within hours: they’re dating, “gay or European,” Ferran cheating on Pedri.

Spain has seen this movie before. In 2010, a photo of Gerard Piqué and Zlatan Ibrahimović standing inches apart in the Barcelona club parking lot, faces near, sent the pink press nuclear with the same rumors.

Zlatan, furious, told a reporter asking about it to bring his sister over so he could prove he wasn’t gay. Piqué, just starting things with Shakira at the time, finally explained it to Ibai Llanos in 2023: he was being his usual tactile self with cars and press everywhere, and “I could eat Zlatan’s mouth, but not in the parking lot of the club in front of everyone.”

In reality: Llorente is married to Patricia “Paddy” Noarbe, and she was in the group at the beach. Torres is single and famously tactile, the Pedri bromance a running meme.

But who wants to live in reality?
