Julia Roberts Flew to Idaho to Watch Her Niece Emma Roberts Get Married This Weekend

Emma Roberts married Cody John in an outdoor ceremony in Sun Valley on Saturday, with her aunt Julia in the crowd. Julia, 58, brought her husband Danny Moder along for the weekend.

Emma, 35, is the daughter of Julia’s brother Eric Roberts, and the two have kept a close public bond for years, trading birthday tributes and shout-outs in interviews. Emma once told Variety she winds down from work by rewatching her aunt’s movies, including My Best Friend’s Wedding and America’s Sweethearts.

For the ceremony on July 25, Emma wore a flowy white gown custom-made by Monique Lhuillier with a sheer shawl and a long veil, per Vogue, then changed into an archival Lhuillier dress for the after-party. John, 36, got married in a brown suit.

Emma and John, who has appeared in Hulu’s Wu-Tang: An American Saga and The CW’s In the Dark, went public in August 2022 when he posted a photo kissing her on Instagram captioned “Sweet sweet.”

Emma announced their engagement on Instagram in July 2024 with a photo of her ring and the caption, “Putting this here before my mom tells everyone.”
