Chelsea Handler Makes Her Family Follow Written Vacation Rules, and Kris Jenner Commented “AMEN.”
The rules: don’t drain the margarita pitcher unless you’re making another, don’t complain about the food while you’re eating it, be nice to her staff, and clean up after yourself.

Chelsea Handler wrote her family a formal set of vacation rules after a trip left her feeling “embarrassed and taken advantage of” by a “definite shortfall of manners” from her relatives.

She reshared the letter, first published in her 2025 book of essays I’ll Have What She’s Having, in a July 22 Instagram carousel. “It’s family vacation season, which means it’s time to reread the rules,” she captioned it. “If you want to vacation with me, these are the rules.”

The demands are specific. Be courteous to everyone on the trip, including her staff: “I treat my employees like family, and I expect you to do the same.” Don’t drink to excess, don’t complain about the food while you’re eating it, and clean up after yourself. On the margaritas: “When I make a pitcher of margaritas, don’t finish that pitcher unless you’re willing to make another.”
She also wants people present, pointing to a game called Oval Office as her best memory of the referenced trip. And she reminded her five siblings, nieces, and nephews that the “trips are not guaranteed” and everyone should bring “an attitude of contribution.”

“A contribution does not mean financial,” she wrote. “It means: What pleasantness are you planning to bring on vacation? It is not a free-for-all.”

She closed the letter on the family itself: “I don’t care how much our family annoys you. It’s the only one we’ve got, and we are stuck together for life.”

The comments filled with agreement. Khloe Kardashian wrote “Here here!!!!!” and Kris Jenner added “AMEN.” Reese Witherspoon posted “Right on” with a bullseye emoji, Chrissy Teigen went with “H OOOOOOOOOOOOBOY!!!!!,” and Sophia Bush tacked on her own rule: “stack your bins at the airport! TSA doesn’t work for us either.”
