Caitlin Clark was mid-press conference at WNBA All-Star weekend when the news broke that LeBron picked Philadelphia. Her instant reaction: she’d just made her own pitch to get him to Indiana. “It didn’t get to him fast enough.”

LeBron James is joining the Philadelphia 76ers, and Caitlin Clark learned it live while fielding questions at All-Star festivities in Chicago.

“I just pitched him for the Pacers! It didn’t get to him fast enough,” she joked, per Fieldhouse Files’ Scott Agness. “The 76ers? Wow.”

She admitted where her heart really wanted him: “Selfishly, I wanted the Warriors because Steph and Bron would have been absolutely insane together, but they have some serious talent on the 76ers, arguably, maybe, one of the favorites in the East now with the Knicks and, obviously, my Pacers.”

Clark said she’ll be tuning in to more Philly games this fall, as James likely closes out his career with the 76ers.
