The Search for Savannah Guthrie’s Missing Mother Has Crossed into Mexico. An Anonymous Tipster Says Nancy Guthrie Is Buried in a Stream in Sonora, About 70 Miles from the Tucson Home She Vanished From
An anonymous caller told a Mexican volunteer search group that Nancy Guthrie’s remains are buried in a streambed in the Mariposa area of Nogales, Sonora, roughly 70 miles south of the Tucson home she disappeared from in February.

Raymona Guadalupe Ayala Ortiz, who leads the Buscando Corazones collective, told Phoenix NBC affiliate 12News that her team searched the spot the caller described and found nothing. The tipster then called back and pointed them to a different area. That search also came up empty.

Nancy, 84, was abducted from her home in the Catalina Foothills neighborhood of Tucson in the early morning hours of February 1. Her doorbell camera was tampered with by a masked, gloved individual, and bloodstains later confirmed as hers were found at the scene. She has a pacemaker and requires daily heart medication.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement that Mexican authorities have not contacted them about the tip or the searches. The investigation in Arizona remains active, and the department said it will follow up on any credible information.

Buscando Corazones plans to return to the area for more searches. The Guthrie family is still offering a $1 million reward for information leading to Nancy’s recovery.
