Jamie Laing Tried to Initiate Sex with His Wife Sophie Habboo Weeks After She Gave Birth. She Told Him She Still Had Stitches.
Sophie Habboo, 32, and Jamie Laing, 37, welcomed their first child, Ziggy, in December 2025. A few weeks later, Jamie tried to initiate sex.

On a recent episode of their podcast NewlyParents, Sophie reenacted the argument that followed. She said she told Jamie she physically couldn’t, that she had stitches, and that her doctor hadn’t cleared her yet. According to Sophie, Jamie’s response was: “Oh that’s bulls***, always an excuse with you, you don’t have to be signed off with the doctor.”

Sophie says she then made him come to her next doctor’s appointment so Tarek, her physician, could tell him to his face that the standard guidance is to wait six weeks. The NHS doesn’t set a hard rule but advises against rushing intimacy after birth.

Jamie added his version on the podcast, recounting Sophie telling him she’d just had her “stomach ripped open,” that their son was nursing constantly, and that the last thing she wanted was him “breathing on” her.
The clip has since been pulled from the original recording, but a repost on TikTok drew a wave of backlash. One viewer called it “horrifying.” Another wrote that beyond the six-week medical window, “you also can’t have sex when the other person doesn’t want it.”
Sophie told Metro the conversation was meant to be light-hearted and that her relationship with Jamie is “based on equality and mutual respect.” She added that they didn’t want the bit to be read as making light of issues that affect many couples.
