Kristen Stewart Called Out Hollywood’s Studio System at Cannes as a “Bunch of Bros”
Kristen Stewart was at Cannes this week for the premiere of “Full Phil,” a Quentin Dupieux father-daughter comedy in which she stars opposite Woody Harrelson.

Variety asked her about the studio system. She didn’t hold back.
“I’m just so sick of the rules and I’m so sick of the system,” she said. “It is not designed for artists to express themselves.” She called the people in charge “a bunch of bros that have come up under a bunch of other bros.” She said it has become impossible to shoot in Los Angeles. The studios, she noted, are barely even at Cannes this year.

Her plan is to make her next film for almost nothing with friends and put it on YouTube. “Whatever money we make from that will be what I spend on my next one,” she said. “There will be a trickle-down effect.” She is done waiting for studios. “I’m going to make it f**king tomorrow.”
Stewart is 36. She made her directorial debut at Cannes last year with “The Chronology of Water.” “I’m just going to sit here doing the same thing over and over amassing wealth? No,” she said. “It’s a ridiculous way to live your life.”
