You’ve Never Heard Of These 30 Movies — But They Will Make You Laugh Until Your Sides Hurt
Transylvania 65000 with Jeff Goldblum and Ed Begley Jr. It's a horror spoof so maybe it plays to my tastes, but everyone I've shown it has loved it.
These movies from Ask Reddit are going to put you in a good mood.
1. Death At A Funeral (original 2007 UK version). I still laugh like the first time whenever I watch it again.
2. I just watched The Birdcage for the first time the other day and I was crying I was laughing so hard. Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, and Hank Azaria are a great team.
3. The Nice Guys. It’s a comedy buddy cop movie starring Ryan Gosling and Russel Crowe that is about them investigating the death of a porn star. It is amazing and hilarious.
4. Transylvania 65000. Jeff Goldblum and Ed Begley Jr. It’s a horror spoof so maybe it plays to my tastes, but everyone I’ve shown it has loved it.

5. Hunt for the Wilderpeople is hilarious and directed by the same person who did Thor 3.
6. The Man Who Knew Too Little. Bill Murray thinks he’s in a spy movie, but its real the whole time.
7. Lake Placid. Absolutely hilarious, brilliant comedic cast, never gets recognition, I think because it’s classified as a horror movie, which it is not, at all.
8. John Dies at the End – two idiots stumble across an interdimensional drug called “soy sauce” and weird shit starts happening, and somehow they save the world (the book is even better!)
9. A Knights Tale. You all may know this one, but I am appalled by the amount of people I talk to who have never heard of this movie. Easily in my top 5 favorite movies of all time.
10. Young Frankenstein. Peter Boyle calmly looking at his thumb on fire, then completely freaking out is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. I can’t watch it without bursting into laughter.
11. Role Models. No one talks about it anymore, but it’s hilarious.
12. Forgetting Sarah Marshall, in my opinion, is heavily underrated.
13. I haven’t seen anyone mention Stranger Than Fiction yet. Very funny Will Ferrell movie, where Will Ferrell doesn’t really act like Will Ferrell.
14. The Other Guys. Criminally underrated Mark Wahlburg and Will Ferrell romp. More “adult” than Daddy’s Home but the humor ranges and has something for just about everyone.
15. Tag. Knew nothing about it. Searched for a comedy. No spoilers.
16. A funny older movie with Bill Murray everyone should watch is ‘What About Bob?’
17. Murder By Death. A hilarious, nonsensical mystery movie making fun of all the cliches in mystery media. I would recommend it to anyone.
18. The Court Jester. Old movie but still hilarious.
19. Clue. Yes, it’s based on the board game, It’s cheesy, and it’s absolutely hilarious. Tim Curry kills it.
It’s even better when you think about the fact that it has multiple endings and, when it was released in theaters, each theater in an area got a different ending, unbeknownst to cinemagoers. So if you went to see it to one theater, and someone you knew went to another, you’d go to discuss it only to find out it didn’t end the same.
20. Grosse Point Blank. Saw it for the first time last week and Dan Aykroyd, Joan Cusack, and Jeremy Pivan had me in stitches. Also appreciated all the 90s nostalgia.
21. My Cousin Vinny. I’ve seen this movie more times than I can remember, and it NEVER fails.
22. Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Steve Martin and John Candy at their finest.
23. Evolution – David Duchovny, Orlando Jones, Julianne Moore.
24. The Money Pit. Not sure whether this is little-known, as it was one of my favorite movies when I was small. A friend recently watched it for the first time and was in tears. Tom Hanks and Shelley Long are marvelous in it.
25. Fierce Creatures. I’ve never met anyone who’s seen it, and it is easily my favorite comedy.
Here’s how I’d try to sell it: the cast of a A Fish Called Wanda reunite to engage in an escalating series of comic set-pieces. Highlights include Kevin Kline riding a panda, Jamie Lee Curtis uncovering an apparent sheep-shagging ring, and John Cleese accidentally committing cannibalism.
26. Galaxy Quest. It is brilliant.
27. I Love You To Death. Joey works with Rosalie in their pizza parlor. She is convinced that he works all of the time for them and her world dissolves when she finds that he has been fooling around for years. Being Catholic, divorce is out of the question, so she and her mother and her best friend decide to kill him. Hopelessly incompetent as killers, they hire incompetent professionals as they beat, poison, and shoot Joey, who remains oblivious to their attempts.
28. U.H.F. starring Weird Al and Kramer from Seinfeld.
29. Real Genius is amazing. I’ve seen it mentioned on Reddit a few times but most people I talk to in person haven’t heard of it.
30. The Castle. Well known in Australia but not outside.
