Start Making Yourself The Priority You Deserve
As I sit here in my dimly lit room, I seem to question the purpose and motivation of my thoughts currently.
College is a whirlwind of emotions and at times seems to get the best of us. There are incredible moments where you just can’t get enough and feel like you’re on top of the world. However, there can be bland times where all you can do is procrastinate and overthink all your decisions thus far.
College is a time to find yourself. I never truly understood that until this semester. I am always a bubbly person and find the optimism in life, I love life. Life is so pure and true if you think about it. We, us, the people, society, everyone… complicate life.
In college and in life we need to take a break and focus on the current. Life can be stressful and crazy at times, but I encourage you to not think about the complicatedness; think about the simple things. Focus on yourself, take time to relax, and think about your purpose. Why are you here? What are you destined to be? To do?
I never tend to think about failure, it normally never crosses my mind. Sometimes I am told I am unrealistic or too optimistic. The thing is, I don’t see that as a negative. I never grasp the idea of negative energy or assume failure. Life is all about the mindset you have, and I truly believe that.
Who cares if this is the worst semester of your college career. Focus on the path, focus on the light at the end of the tunnel. Trust me, it will be hard, but I know you can do it. Dreams only belong to those who work for it. If something seems impossible, it’s not. Dig deep, deeper than you even think you can.
We can always count on ourselves 100%. Think about that for a second, the only sure thing in the world that you are given is yourself. It is amazing if you really think about it. You were given you, and the only thing you have to do is live, live how you want. I encourage you to love yourself fully. Every day write down 5 things you love about yourself. Put those words on your mirror or dresser, constantly remind yourself that you are your number one priority. I promise you, if you make yourself a priority, there truly is nothing that can stop you.
Everything happens for a reason and sometimes it is okay to brainstorm. I am always a “sure thing” person. Until this semester I didn’t realize that sometimes it’s okay to not always be sure of everything. There will be bumps in the road, and sometimes it will take you a little while to realize that those bumps happened for a reason. During those bumps just remain the constant you that you are.
Make yourself the priority that you deserve.
