I Need You to Know That You’re Powerful

You’re powerful because you’re enough.

Most of us don’t use “powerful” when describing ourselves, in fact, I’m sure you’ve probably called yourself the exact opposite more than once.

Despite what thoughts run through your mind let me be the one to remind you how powerful you really are. Let it resonate in every single fiber of your being especially on the days when weakness comes knocking.

Moments of weakness do not strip you of power.

You’re powerful because you survive. When thrown for a loop or knocked down you have the ability to adapt and bounce back. Each setback you’ve faced is another tool that fuels the fire you have to succeed. Surviving isn’t easy, especially if you haven’t been dealt an easy hand. When toxic people’s words and actions start to seep in and latch on like a leech you know not to pull away quickly but how to dislodge yourself from their negativity.

When you feel like you’re drowning in everything with no end in sight and nowhere to turn I promise you this.

Powerful women can’t be snubbed out.

You can belittle them, criticize them, embarrass them, shame them, and try and remove every piece of self-worth they have but no matter how long it takes they will rise from those ashes. It may not always be right away, it may be a slow climb but they always find a way back to the top.

You’re one of these women.

You get back up without asking permission from anyone else because you don’t need it. The only person you need to answer to is yourself and you’re a force to be reckoned with. So what if you’re soft-spoken, strength doesn’t have to come from being loud. With your head held high and not a quiver in your voice you’re not afraid to stand up for yourself.

In that same instance, you’re not afraid to stand up for those who can’t speak for themselves. You extend a helping hand even when one hasn’t been handed to you & you ask nothing in return. It’s better to show other women how to be powerful than to drag them down.

You’re powerful because you’ve had your heart broken and you’ve figured out how to put the pieces back together. You didn’t let the pain and hurt shut you off from the opportunity of letting someone else in. You decided that love wins over hatred and that wallowing in sadness can only last for so long. You decided you deserved the love you have been trying to give to another and you weren’t going to let anything stand in the way.

You’re powerful because you’re enough.

In a world of constant competitiveness and a society that is so quick to cast judgments, you’re a strong woman because you are you. You don’t try and be anyone other than yourself if that isn’t good enough for others you politely but quickly show them the door. You don’t work on pretending to be someone you’re not.

You’re a storm. There are always going to be moments of chaos, but eventually, the sunlight follows because of this knowledge, in the end, you’re the woman who comes out on top. You work on being the best version of you, growing and figuring out new paths to adventure on while showing kindness to those around you. You’re just trying to make it in this game of life and to live it on your own terms.

To me that’s pretty powerful. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
