This Is Everything We Know About ’13 Reasons Why’ Season Two So Far
Though there isn’t yet a release date for the second season of Netflix’s wildly popular show 13 Reasons Why, we do know that we can expect it to drop sometime soon — almost definitely within the next few months. And while a lot of the plot points have been kept under wraps (Will there be a school shooting? Did Alex survive his possible suicide attempt?), there are a few things we can already expect from season two, thanks to some interviews with the show’s stars. And from the looks of it, the show is about to take a pretty big turn.
So here it is: everything we already know about season two of 13 Reasons Why:
1. Hannah Baker is back
Even though season one wrapped up Hannah’s story pretty nicely, it’s far from being done. Soon after season two was announced, it was confirmed that Hannah would still be a big part of the show.
2. There will be a new narrator
There will still be a narrator in season two, much like the first one, but this time around, it won’t be Hannah. Instead, another character will get their turn to tell their story (and I’m over here hoping it’s Jessica).
3. There will be a slew of new characters
New students, new parents, even some new advocates ready to stand up for our characters — and justice. You can see the full list of new characters here.
4. The season will be more “redemptive and hope-filled” than the last one
No one can deny that what we’ve seen so far of 13 Reasons Why has been dark, even bleak. While the story had an ultimate lesson, it wasn’t afraid to let its characters (and its viewers) suffer. But according to Kate Walsh, who plays Hannah’s mother, told E! News that we can expect something a little more hopeful this time around.
5. Bryce will probably pay for his actions
In the first season, Bryce, the series’ main antagonist, sexually assaulted multiple women, including Hannah. Walsh told E! News, “You see us sort of following the trail of Bryce Walker, so this season deals with sexual assault, it deals with truth, it deals with responsibility, it deals with the aftermath of Hannah’s death… And really trying to, again, look for responsibility and accountability. It’s very intense and very, I think, still totally addictive.”
6. Clay’s having a harder time getting over Hannah than he expected
Actor Dylan Minnette revealed that even when his character Clay think he’s finally moving on from happened with Hannah, it becomes soon becomes clear to both him and viewers that he hasn’t gotten over it at all.
7. Clay might have a new romantic interest
Clay spent much of the first season grappling with his feelings for Hannah and coming to terms with her death — and the fact that he never got to tell her how he felt. But in an interview Seventeen earlier this year, actor Dylan Minnette said that Clay and classmate Skye would be spending a lot of time together, and yes, that might involve some feelings.
8. There will be 13 episodes in the season
I mean, obviously.
