We all want to know what the future has in store for us, and many of us turn to the Tarot cards to see what could possibly be in our futures. If you have decided that you want to try doing your own Tarot readings, it is a good idea to take the time to really learn about the Tarot deck. While there are all kinds of different decks out there, the cards basically all mean the same thing. Check out LunarCafe to learn more about the cards and what they mean. Once you understand the cards, you can start your own readings. But, be careful not to make any of the following common mistakes.

1. Giving Your Own Interpretation

The cards have the answers, and you are not meant to read your own interpretations into those answers. You can’t just come up with a convenient interpretation, because you won’t be getting a truly accurate reading. This is another reason why you should not be emotionally invested in the reading. Most of the time, it is much better to have a professional do you reading, and you can do readings for other people instead of yourself.

2. Using A Complicated Spread

If you are just starting out with reading Tarot cards, don’t try to get into the really complicated spreads, such as the Celtic Cross. A three-card spread will give you the same answers, and is much easier for the beginner to read. Even a one-card spread is good, especially if you only want a simple answer. The more complicated spreads will likely give you more information than you actually wanted, and the information may be extremely confusing, especially for a beginner.

3. Drawing Extra Cards As Clarifiers

In some cases, it can help to draw an extra card to clarify another card. But, this doesn’t mean that you can keep drawing cards until you get to the answers that you want. You will end up with too many messages, and there will not be a clear reading that you can really understand. Or, you will end up not happy because you didn’t get the result that you wanted. Only draw clarifying cards when it is absolutely necessary, and try to keep it so just one or two cards.

4. Doing More Than One Reading On A Single Subject

Once you do a reading, be happy with the results, or at least use those results to make the necessary changes for the outcome you really want. Doing multiple readings about the same subject isn’t going to do you any good at all. The answers are going to be pretty much the same. Wait at least a month and then try a reading on the same topic. By this time, there will likely be some changes that will affect the outcome of the reading.

5. Doing A Reading While Emotional

You need to be able to read between the lines when doing a Tarot reading, and this can be very difficult when you are in an emotional state. You won’t get an accurate reading, because you are too emotionally invested in the reading. In a case like this, it is much better to have someone else who knows the cards do the reading for you, because the person doing the reading needs to be calm and objective.

6. Searching For Only The Meanings You Want

Some cards have several meanings, which can be a difficult thing for some people to deal with. Don’t search through all of the meanings of a card just to find the answer that you want. It just doesn’t work that way. In fact, if you are doing your own readings, you may end up focusing on part of the meaning and not the whole meaning just so you can make the reading be more positive.
