Welcome Back To 1995: Green Day And No Doubt Have New Singles Out

After more than a decade, Gwen Stefani has finally seen the light and returned to No Doubt where she belongs. Byeeee Harajuki girls. Not sorry to see you go.

The band’s new single is called “Settle Down” and it’s the first off their new studio album, Push and Shove, which comes out Sept. 25.

I could not be more excited about this. In eighth grade, my mom won tickets on the radio to see No Doubt in concert and came barreling into my classroom, interrupting everyone’s education to squee with me. (My mom rules.)

People have rightfully been saying that the new song’s too long, (womp, womp) but I love Gwen’s voice and the bridge and chorus are catchy. I detect shades of Major Lazer, which is not necessarily a bad thing. This definitely sounds like an old school No Doubt song. I half-expect Gwen to bring the bindi back for the music video, which is being directed by Sophie Muller who did the video for “Don’t Speak.”

I’m not even a little ashamed, guys. I missed the sh-t out of this band.

On top of this nostalgic music news, Green Day also has a new single out today called “Oh, Love” — the first off a trilogy of forthcoming albums called “¡Uno!,” “¡Dos!” and “¡Tre!” The albums are being produced by Rob Cavallo, the same guy who did the band’s 1994 disc, Dookie.

Rolling Stone interviewed Mike Dirnt about the new records:

…the group wanted to move away from the weighty, politically charged content of their previous two albums, 2004’s American Idiot and 2009’s 21st Century Breakdown. “We were just thinking about making a killer power-pop record – dirtier, back to basics,” he says. “We tapped into our version of Exile on Main Street.

Just…whew. That is all I need to hear. TC Mark
