Amanda Batula’s Best Friend Says She Knew Hooking Up with West Wilson Was “Technically” Wrong
Katie Deluca was on the Conversations with Cam Podcast on Wednesday and talked about her best friend since third grade, Amanda Batula, and her relationship with her Summer House castmate West Wilson.

Katie says she didn’t learn the details of the relationship until the day before West and Amanda released a joint statement. Katie arrived unannounced at Amanda’s apartment to say, “I need to have a conversation with you. What the f*ck is going on?”
Before that, Katie says she’d texted Amanda to ask if anything was going on with West and Amanda lied to her and said no.

Host Cameron Rogers wondered aloud whether shame played a role in Amanda keeping her relationship with West a secret, going so far as to lie to her closest friend. Katie agreed with that take and said Amanda did feel shame, adding, “She knew it was like, technically wrong.”

So Amanda’s inner circle is still downplaying what she did.
It’s not as if there is some small technicality that makes Amanda’s relationship with West wrong. It was wrong because she knew it would hurt her close friend Ciara Miller (who was never mentioned during this entire conversation). If she felt that strongly about West, she could have talked to Ciara about it. Even if she didn’t get Ciara’s blessing, it would have been the right thing to do.

Instead, Amanda made it way worse by gaslighting Ciara. When Ciara asked if anything was going on, Amanda denied it and then chided Ciara for even asking the question. Ciara followed up asking a very, very specific question to make absolutely sure she and Amanda were on the same page. Amanda doubled down.

It’s interesting that Katie is acting like Amanda was in a grey area. Falling for the wrong person is one thing. Acting on it is another. Gaslighting your close friends about it is a deliberate choice, as is the bizarre lack of remorse Amanda has shown since.

The fact that her inner circle continues to downplay what she did tells me Amanda still hasn’t taken accountability.
