The people closest to Perez Hilton say the real worry isn’t whether his pain is real. It’s what happens once the headlines fade.

The concern, according to those around him, is that Hilton starts to link the wave of publicity with validation. “Attention has always been his currency,” another insider said. “The fear is that he starts associating this enormous wave of publicity with validation. That’s a dangerous connection because it can make a personal crisis feel rewarding.”

Speculation over what he does next has only sharpened those fears. “People around him are already wondering if this becomes a book, a paid television interview, a documentary, or some other way to monetize what happened,” a source said. “Everyone hopes that’s not where this goes, but those conversations are already happening.”
Friends are split. Some believe he deserves compassion, privacy, and time to recover. Others worry he’ll keep sharing intimate details of the ordeal once he’s well enough to do it.

“We all want Perez to get healthy,” one insider added. “If healing becomes secondary to fame, then everyone loses, especially Perez.”
