Ora Duplass Named Jennifer Lawrence as Her Career Blueprint, Praising the Star for Tripping on the Oscars Stairs and Owning It
“I just love how goofy she is. Like, you’re literally falling on the steps and still look amazing.” — Ora Duplass
The 18-year-old told Variety at its Power of Young Hollywood event this week that she wants to model her career after Jennifer Lawrence, pointing to the actress’s knack for turning a stumble into a signature.

Lawrence tripped on the stairs at the 2013 Oscars while walking up to accept Best Actress for “Silver Linings Playbook,” then joked that the standing ovation was pity. She fell again the next year on the red carpet.

Duplass is the daughter of indie filmmakers Mark Duplass and Katie Aselton, who kept her out of the industry through childhood so she could grow up away from the rejection and pressure. She made her feature debut this year as the lead in “Their Town,” written by her father and directed by her mother, which premiered at SXSW, and she stars as Tegan in Disney+’s witchy YA series “Coven Academy.”
