Matty Healy Married Model Gabbriette Bechtel Under the Hollywood Sign
The tortured artist and the beautiful, edgy model are now married.
The kiss landed at exactly 7 o’clock, sunset over Los Angeles, at a hillside estate Madonna once owned. Then the groom picked up a mic and turned his own reception into a 1975 show.
The couple exchanged vows at Castillo del Lago, the Hollywood Hills estate once owned by Madonna. A source told the Daily Mail they kissed “at exactly 7 o’clock” as the sun set. Healy, 37, wore a black tuxedo with a white bowtie and corsage; Bechtel, 28, walked the aisle in a voluminous white gown with a sculpted bodice, ruffled long sleeves, and an embroidered train, a sheer veil over her dark hair, carrying a single large red rose in her hand.
Emily Ratajkowski, Alex Consani, and Healy’s 1975 bandmates were among the guests. The reception ran at the same property, where Healy entertained his new wife and the room by playing a set with the band.
There is a certain irony worth sitting with here. This is the guy who talked on and on about how much he hates influencers and LA, who insisted he didn’t want to be a celebrity, just an artist. And yet here he is, marrying an influencer in LA, handing out multiple exclusives to the tabloids.
Healy and Bechtel have been linked since September 2023, three months after his brief romance with Taylor Swift ended that June. They got engaged in June 2024 after a nine-month romance, and Bechtel announced it on Instagram with the caption “Marrying the 1975 is very Brat,” a nod to the ring Healy had custom-made: a black diamond center stone with pavé diamonds around both the stone and the band.
Credit their friends Charli XCX and her husband George Daniel, The 1975’s drummer, for the match. Charli hand-picked Bechtel in 2019 for Nasty Cherry, the punk-pop band she put together, later documented by Netflix in “I’m with the Band: Nasty Cherry.” Friends had been trying to introduce Bechtel and Healy for four years before he came to Los Angeles and it clicked. “He came to L.A. and we’ve been in love ever since,” Bechtel told Homme Girls.
Bechtel laid out her own wedding philosophy in a Jimmy Choo bridal campaign this past February: “This is a celebration, not a performance.” And: “Remember, this is about love, and looking hot, but mainly about love.” On splitting the planning with Healy: “Let your fiancé think that they’re helping. They pick the music, you pick everything else. Democracy!”
Bechtel, a model and social media influencer from Orange County, held her rehearsal dinner with Healy at Rainbow Bar & Grill in West Hollywood the night before the wedding.
Two weeks earlier, Swift married Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden in New York. Healy had a brief fling with Swift, dating her briefly in early summer in 2023.
