Jennifer Lawrence Stepped Out in New York with Espresso-Brown Hair, Ditching the Blonde She’s Known For

By

Lawrence dyed her hair espresso-brown for two of her biggest roles: Tiffany Maxwell in Silver Linings Playbook, which won her Best Actress in 2012, and Katniss Everdeen across the Hunger Games films.

This time it isn’t clear there’s a role behind it. She was photographed heading to dinner in a blue print T-shirt, a white maxi skirt, and sandals, her hair piled into a casual updo with long bangs.

The 35-year-old actress is naturally blonde and shifts to brown in her everyday life too, so the color may be nothing more than a summer change. Just Jared and other outlets flagged that it’s unclear whether the dye job is for a role or a personal refresh.

Fans went straight to Sunrise on the Reaping, the Hunger Games prequel arriving November 20, 2026. Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are expected back in a flash-forward tied to the earlier films, and Katniss is a brunette, so the timing lined up fast. Nothing’s been confirmed.

She was last seen in the 2025 psychological thriller Die My Love opposite Robert Pattinson, and next up is What Happens at Night, a gothic horror directed by Martin Scorsese and co-starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
