Trump on Whether He’ll Attend Don Jr.’s Wedding This Weekend in the Bahamas: “I Have A Thing Called Iran.”
Donald Trump was asked in the Oval Office on May 21 whether he planned to attend his eldest son’s wedding over Memorial Day weekend. Donald Trump Jr. is marrying Bettina Anderson, a 39-year-old Palm Beach socialite and philanthropist, on a private island in the Bahamas between May 23 and 25.

The ceremony is deliberately small, with fewer than 50 guests and no media. The couple originally floated a splashier White House wedding, possibly in the new ballroom, or a Mar-a-Lago blowout, and pivoted away over political optics tied to Iran and the look of a lavish event during global tensions. Don Jr. shot down postponement rumors on X with a blunt “news to me.”
Sources told CNN after the presser that Trump was expected to skip the ceremony and head to Bedminster instead. He said he’s known Bettina “a long time” and wished the couple a “great marriage.”

The relationship went public in August 2024, when the two were spotted holding hands in Palm Beach. Don Jr. proposed at Camp David around Bettina’s December 9 birthday in 2025, and Trump announced the engagement himself at a White House holiday party on December 15. Bettina’s “Enchanted Garden” bridal shower at Mar-a-Lago on April 12, 2026 drew about 60 guests, including Ivanka, Lara, Tiffany, and Marla Maples. Melania skipped.
Bettina was born and raised in Palm Beach and grew up in the historic Oasis Cottage estate once owned by Lilly Pulitzer. Her father, Harry Loy Anderson Jr., became the youngest bank president in U.S. history at 26. Her mother, Inger, is a Swedish former model and philanthropist. Bettina graduated from Columbia with a degree in art history, has modeled for covers including Quest and Palm Beach Illustrated, and co-founded The Paradise Fund, which supports natural disaster relief, Everglades conservation, and literacy programs. She previously dated a Wrigley chewing-gum heir. This is Don Jr.’s second marriage. He was married to Vanessa Trump until their 2018 divorce and was later engaged to Kimberly Guilfoyle.

The day before Trump’s Oval Office comments, Vanessa Trump, Don Jr.’s ex-wife and the mother of his five children, publicly announced she’d been diagnosed with breast cancer. She said she was “focused and hopeful” after a recent procedure and asked for privacy.
