Dear First Love—Thank You
Thank you for showing me a world that not many people are lucky enough to experience in a lifetime.
Not everyone is lucky enough to experience such passionate and intense love as we did at such a young age. Even if it didn’t last.
Thank you for the moments we shared.
For all the perfect times where life stood still and for the not so perfect times. I’m equally grateful for the moments that felt like forever as I am the 2 AM fights.
Thank you for sharing yourself, your life, and your family with me.
You opened up and shared yourself with me. You made me a part of your family. I made you a part of mine. For a moment in time, you chose me and I chose you.
Thank you for being patient when my flaws became a challenge.
Practicing the art of patience when someone you love becomes a challenge speaks volumes. Thank you for seeing the brighter side of me so many times, even when it wasn’t easy.
Thank you for understanding me and learning me in ways that not everyone cares enough to.
You appreciated all the little things about me that I would overlook. You believed in me and my dreams when I didn’t. You saw the very best parts of me as if that’s all I’m made of.
Thank you for helping me find myself.
In all the lessons you taught me, the biggest one I learned was about myself. You played a role in my growth. Without you, I wouldn’t be who I am today.
Thank you for being you.
There’s something special about learning and loving someone so deeply for the first time. About knowing them inside and out, and them knowing you inside and out. I’m happy it was you I got to know.
There wasn’t a moment, and there still isn’t, where I doubt that you genuinely care for my well being. So thank you.
Thank you for teaching me how to love.
Thank you for teaching me how to hurt and how to be hurt.
Thank you for teaching me about who I am and who I can be.
Thank you for being my best friend.
Thank you for being my first love.
