Some Republicans Taking ‘Follow Your Dreams’ Way Too Literally

By

Everybody’s got a dream. Dreams are important. Even freshman Republican Representative Kerry Bentivolio (MI) has a dream. Oh it’s not of balancing any budgets or booting immigrants back across the border. It’s not even of lowering taxes on millionaires, an old standby. No, his dream is of throwing Barack Obama out of the office of President.

“If I could write that bill and submit it, it would be a dream come true,” he said this month.

Brilliant! Too bad that’s not how impeachment works and thankfully there are some among the Republican Party who know it. John Boehner, the long-suffering and almost totally powerless Republican Speaker of the House:

Republicans are going to keep our focus on creating jobs, cutting wasteful spending and repealing Obamacare,” said Kevin Smith, a spokesman for Mr. Boehner, potentially dashing the dreams of Mr. Bentivolio and others who yearn to present the House impeachment case to the senate.

Aw, but what will Mr. Bentivolio and those like him do with their time between now and 2016 since Obama’s committed no legally impeachable offense? Well, there’s always attempting to repeal Obamacare for the 41st time. I mean, if you’re going to spend millions of dollars on something then make it useful, right? House Republicans would be better off spending money on the lottery than spending it on repeal attempts and impeachment talk. They’d have better chances and given the possibility that anything might be getting done for the economy over the next couple of years maybe you should give it some thought too. Hopefully you were a math major.
