Mel C, 52, Is Marrying Australian Model Chris Dingwall This Weekend, 30 Years After the Spice Girls Dropped “Wannabe.”
The last unmarried Spice Girl is finally saying “I do,” and she once said marriage wasn’t part of her story. All of her bandmates are invited to the low-key ceremony in England’s Lake District, though Victoria Beckham won’t be there.

Mel C is the final Spice Girl to marry, and this weekend she’ll wed Australian model and writer Chris Dingwall at a low-key ceremony in England’s Lake District, the mountainous national park in the country’s northwest, according to a Daily Mail report.
Chris, believed to be in his forties, is a Sydney-based model, writer and director. He’s signed with agencies including Ford and Chadwick and has shot campaigns for The North Face and Aether Apparel, and his screen credits include the short films Sandwich (2016) and The CNO (2019). His Instagram tracks a jet-set life through Oman, Bali, California and Armenia.

The couple went public in 2024 after months of speculation, having matched on the celebrity dating app Raya. They hard-launched at Glastonbury in late June that year and were spotted days later getting cosy at Wimbledon. She hadn’t publicly announced an engagement, but a source says she’s “completely head over heels and has never been happier.”
Every bandmate is invited except Victoria Beckham, who’s in America for the World Cup. As one source put it, “Everyone is quite confused that Sporty Spice is having her wedding on the eve of the FIFA world cup final.”

Marriage wasn’t always in the plan. Mel had sworn it off, telling The Sunday Times in 2022, “I’ve never, never wanted to marry. Maybe marriage works for some people, but maybe to think it works for the majority is an old-fashioned notion.” She’s also spoken openly about how loneliness during her Spice Girls years fed a battle with depression she detailed in her 2022 memoir. Speaking on The Louis Theroux Podcast, she said being single “has been quite a big theme of my adult life, really. It was a long time before I was in a long-term relationship.”

Chris shifted that. She told The Times in January: “It’s something I didn’t think would be part of my story, but I’m so happy with Chris. Maybe it is something that will be in my life.” Elements of her new album Sweat were inspired by him, and she described him to the Telegraph as “very laid-back. He’s loads of fun… we work out together.”
Mel was previously in a seven-year relationship with her former manager Joe Marshall that ended in 2015, and she shares her 17-year-old daughter Scarlett with former partner Thomas Starr. There’s a feeling she may eventually move to Australia with Chris, where she already works on The Voice Australia.
