Matt Damon Says the Key to His 20-Year Marriage with Luciana Is This
“There’s a lot of love and respect underneath the relationship, and a lot of trust. It’s built on a very sturdy foundation. We continue to grow and evolve as people, and so that foundation’s really everything,” Matt Damon said of his 20-year marriage to Luciana.

Damon and Luciana have been married for two decades, and he’s usually reluctant to hand anyone relationship advice. “Boy, I’ve always loathed to give any advice because I feel everybody’s different and everybody’s relationship is different,” he told PEOPLE ahead of the release of The Odyssey. Of the partnership itself, he added, “It’s the greatest thing in my life.”

The two met in April 2003 and married two years later. They share four daughters: Alexia, 26, Isabella, 19, Gia, 17, and Stella, 15.

All six of them turned up together at the London premiere of The Odyssey on July 6, a rare full-family carpet for a star who usually keeps his kids out of frame. Damon wore a gray three-piece suit with a light blue shirt and tie, Luciana went with a black gown and an updo, and the girls all came in floor-length gowns.

The partnership runs into the work, too. Luciana is a partner at Matt and Ben Affleck’s production company Artist’s Equity, and she produced his 2024 film The Instigators and his 2026 crime thriller The Rip. “She reads everything I’m doing. She looks at cuts of movies. I’ve really relied on her notes for 23 years,” Damon said.
While he was shooting The Odyssey, she was producing Animals, the movie Affleck is directing. “They went off and did this movie while I was away and that’s great to see,” he said.
Damon, 55, stars as Odysseus in Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of Homer, in theaters now.
