A Eulogy To The Friendship That Could Not Last When You Started Dating Her
Not one word. Not one text. Not one phone call. She won’t feel jealous of you anymore.
By Sophia Rose
Dear friends and family gathered here today,
Here lies the body of my best friend,
Whose heart I broke, without a gun to my head.
Whose life I silenced, without a fight.
Rest in peace my friend.
This day is a hard one for us all.
Today we have the chance to come together and appreciate someone who we all loved, as a friend, a loved one, a sister, and a woman.
If you were a man like me, perhaps I would’ve been allowed to appreciate you more.
Today it is important for us to share in each others moments of thoughts and memories.
But I’m not allowed to share things with you anymore, dear friend. It makes it easier for her to sleep at night; to know that she is the only person I talk to.
We were all very lucky to have had you in our lives. You will remain with us all. Every day, as long as we can remember.
I find that it is much easier to mourn in silence. Silence is something we may often find comfortable. So now, we will stay silent for you, my dear friend.
Not one word. Not one text. Not one phone call.
She won’t feel jealous of you anymore.
I love and miss you, dear friend.
Without a girlfriend, but not with a girlfriend.
Yet still, forevermore.
