I’ve always been that one black girl in a sea of non-black spaces and faces.

Thank you for art and museums.

She was shy and strong. Honest and outspoken. And incredibly vulnerable and brave. And she was different.

I’m excited to see how things evolve.

The things people made fun of you for won’t matter either. Because you, beautiful, were blossoming. And you still are.

Don’t waste time trying to change their minds. There are people in your life and people you will meet along the way who will think you’re amazing.
