Some Guys Just Aren’t Boyfriend Material

If you’re on the prowl for a new boyfriend, you’ll want to make sure you get up with someone who’s on your level and worthy of your time. But how can you determine or know who’s a great match?
Well, it really depends on what you’re looking for and what you think you deserve. I can tell you right now, a lousy guy won’t be worth your time. He’ll likely be the type who only hits you up whenever he wants, tell his friends about things you’ve discussed with him in private because he’s too immature to keep personal things to himself, and post recklessly on social media when you two disagree, take a break, or have a fight because he needs attention and will do anything to get it, even if it means making himself look stupid.
Some guys just aren’t boyfriend material. Sometimes, they’re just lessons.
A great guy will be supportive. He’ll have a life of his own, but he’ll also show up when it matters. This guy will make you a priority in his life. He’ll have the maturity to keep private matters private and intentionally communicate with you face-to-face instead of venting his feelings and frustrations online to his followers and friends. He’ll take his time getting to know you and know how to lead without being controlling. And his character and personality will complement yours in the best kinds of ways. This guy will have his stuff together (or actively be working towards it) because a guy who’s seeking a quality relationship will make sure he’s on point before making space for you to be in his life.
A lousy guy will have a lot of excuses for why he’s not available. He’ll be inappropriate and toxic. He’ll disrespect you and other women because he has no respect and doesn’t care about anyone but himself. He’ll be in touch with other women while he claims you’re the only one he’s interested in. He’ll lie, be selfish, won’t keep his word, and likely be all talk. Because, frankly, he’s not boyfriend material. This guy is someone you need to stay away from. He’s the type whose number you may need to block too. And then move all the way on.
A great guy will show you he can be trusted. His actions will speak for themselves. He’ll pursue you and initiate contact. He’ll encourage you to try new things and step outside of your comfort zone. He’ll be someone you want to be around, who won’t have you second-guessing yourself and questioning why you chose him. You’ll know he’s right for you when you realize you’re able to be yourself with him. You’ll also notice how he brings out the best in you as you bring out the best in him. He’ll be the right choice.
At the end of the day, you get to choose what kind of boyfriend you want. So be unapologetically selective and choose wisely.
