20 Reminders For The Beautiful Girl Struggling To Love Herself
Whatever problems plague you right now, I guarantee that you’ll find comfort in the words of someone who has been there and made it through stronger.
1. Replace negative thoughts with positive ones.
Any time something negative crosses your mind, stop it dead in its tracks and counteract it with something positive. My thighs are too thick, might become, my body is incredibly powerful and allows me to live this beautiful life.
Get into the habit of doing this and before you know it you’ll be bursting with positive energy.
2. Look past your body.
Note to self: You are so much more than your physical appearance. Looks are merely the icing on the cake – the cake carries much greater depth and weight than that thin layer of sugary stuff on top.
You are the colors of your mind and your beautiful spirit.
3. Remember that it’s okay to have bad days.
We all have them – even those of us who appear to have no worries at all. And that’s normal. You won’t wake up every single day feeling amazing, because that’s simply not real life. It’s okay to be sad, just remember to pick yourself back up.
4. Cut all toxic people out of your life.
You really are the product of the five people you spend the most time with, so take a look around you and see who’s there today. If they don’t make you happy and if they aren’t helping you to be the best version of yourself you know you can be, they don’t belong in your life.
The truth is, friendships end every day – and that’s okay. It’s okay to grow up and to move on, in fact it’s necessary.
5. Stand up for yourself.
Get comfortable defending your corner when you need to. Just because you’re the girl who’s always been quiet and meek, it doesn’t mean you need to carry that label forever.
Don’t take anybody’s shit, okay?
6. Seek motivation and guidance from experts.
Fill your mind with good thoughts and guidance from great books, mentors and teachings. There is so much to learn and gain from the people who were once in your shoes.
Whatever problems plague you right now, I guarantee that you’ll find comfort in the words of someone who has been there and made it through stronger.
7. Listen to your body and what it needs.
Listen carefully to your body’s whisper because it will always tell you exactly what it needs and when. Don’t deprive yourself of anything – a little bit of everything in moderation is key.
Never punish yourself for eating something ‘bad’, and forgive yourself on the occasions when you over-indulge because it happens, and there are way worse things than too much chocolate.
8. Get comfortable saying yes and no.
Only do things because you genuinely want to, not because you think you should or because someone else is pressuring you to. This is YOUR life, live it for you.
9. Dance naked.
Whenever you happen to be home alone, take this as a golden opportunity to blast your favorite song and dance like no one’s watching. Clothing is optional.
You’ll be amazed at how free and energized you feel after just a few minutes of feeling the beat go through you.
10. Write a list of all your best qualities.
And remind yourself of them every single day. Because you are all kinds of awesome and I don’t want you to ever forget it.
11. Say good things to yourself (and mean it.)
Give yourself a compliment every day. Give yourself a compliment shower. Look for something good to say and you’ll always find it. Say it out loud, with conviction, and it’s only a matter of time before you begin to believe it.
12. Say good things to others (and mean it.)
The energy we give out to the universe is what we receive back – so think about what you’re putting out there.
When you spread positive energy and make others feel good, it also helps you to feel uplifted and happy.
13. Be happy and content with your own company.
Get comfortable spending time on your own without feeling self-conscious or like something is missing. There is nothing missing! You are whole on your own. A partner or any number of friendships will never complete you.
Take yourself on a fabulous solo date and enjoy every moment.
14. Set aside time each day for self-care.
Make sure you are a priority in your life. Whether it’s as little as ten minutes, or as much as an hour every day, be sure to set aside some time just for you to unwind and centre yourself.
15. Find a kind and loyal team of cheerleaders.
Surround yourself with a team of people who have your back, no matter what. People who will always be there for you, people you can trust with your life, and people who only want to see you thrive. And when you find people like this, do your best to hold on to them because they are rare souls.
16. Have a good work and life balance.
Be sure to define a healthy balance when it comes to your career and your personal life. It’s great to be motivated and ambitious but it’s also important to take time out to rest and rejuvenate your mind, body and soul.
17. Recognize that your ‘imperfections’ make you who you are.
And who you are is beautiful. Those parts of yourself that you see as flaws might be the very parts that someone else finds the most beauty in. Because people are all so different like that. And you don’t need to change in order to be liked or loved – the right people will love you as you are today.
18. Quit comparing yourself to others.
Pay attention and you’ll always find someone smarter, more attractive, and seemingly living a better life than you are. But here’s the deal: THEY ARE NOT YOU.
You are on your own journey here and your only job is to make yourself proud. Ignore everybody else.
19. Take responsibility for your happiness.
Whenever you experience a setback, a bad day, or someone treats you poorly, remember that no one and nothing has the power to make you feel a certain way. How you feel is 100% up to you. Don’t let anyone or anything stop you from living the beautiful, abundant life you deserve.
20. Believe in yourself.
Believe in yourself and there’s nothing you cannot do. Believe that change is possible and you’ll notice things change. Believe that you are worthy of your own love and you’ll begin to feel it.
