This Is For The Girls Who Don’t Think They’re Beautiful

You’ll be the prettiest when you love yourself and embrace yourself. You’ll glow when you accept yourself and only then will you find peace.

I am an average looking, dusky skinned girl. I’m not very much into the make-up thing. I don’t dress up very often and I don’t know the first word about doing my hair right or getting my eyebrows done.

I’m very much sure that I’m not the only one. There must be girls – probably millions of them, who think or feel the same in one way or another. For all of you out there, all I have to say is – it’s okay to be just okay.

Honestly, I never gave it much thought – about how I look and I was so happy in my little world. When this hit me, it was hard and tough and weird.

Sometimes, it still is.

The strange thing about the whole situation is that I can keep sulking, keep looking in the mirror and crying, but I won’t do anything about it. I don’t try to change anything about my face, or my skin, or my body for that matter.

It will all sound meaningless when you read it, and it is. The reason that this makes me mad is because I keep thinking that I’m not a nice person, that I’ve hurt people and that I’m bad. My face might be ugly, but what frightens me, is my soul being uglier. I found out I was unhappy because when I looked in the mirror, I saw someone I never thought of turning into.

And that’s what you should care about, too.

The monsters are terrible and the angels are gorgeous only because of their deeds and nothing more.

You will only be happy if you’re satisfied with yourself and let me tell you, no amount of make-up will ever cover up those marks on your soul and mind.

You’ll be the prettiest when you love yourself and embrace yourself. You’ll glow when you accept yourself and only then will you find peace.

Sure, shopping helps (my favourite cure), but no more than knowing that you’ve given your best to make people around you happy.

You’re beautiful when you’re happy and it has nothing to do with your height, weight, crooked nose or extra wide forehead.

Have you not realized yet that some days you don’t even care? How, on some days you just want to be and hope for everything to get better? Be that person everyday. Or at least give it a try. Do what you want, be a free soul. If you’ve been through something horrible, make sure that others don’t.

We are all going to end up the same, so make a difference while you can. You know you’re beautiful inside and out, you don’t need any approvals. The people who love you, will love you until the end despite your looks. If you still aren’t satisfied, ask yourself what matters to you the most. You’ll know within no time. If still not, know that I’m always here to help.

You’re beautiful ladies, every single one of you. Don’t let them get to you; don’t let them say that you aren’t worth it. It’s all lies; trust me, I know. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
