Joy Is A Journey That Starts And Ends With God

Like any true Netflix fiend, I too fell into the “Does it spark joy?” craze. What’s interesting is that my mind translated it into something entirely different from what Marie Kondo intended.

I didn’t look at the objects in my home and wonder what sparked joy; I looked at my life and wondered what sparked joy.

It wasn’t long before I realized that the more I worked on my relationship with God by committing hours to bible study, service, and church, the more joy I felt. The more I prayed about my problems and asked for strength to get through them, the more joy I felt. The more I welcomed God into my life, the more joy I felt.

God has managed to transform me from the inside out, but I had to let Him. I had to open my heart and my mind. I had to be ready.

I think getting ready was the hardest part of the whole process because I essentially had to let go of everything I’ve ever wanted or thought I wanted to get there.

Having God in my life taught me that joy doesn’t have a destination — it is a journey that starts and ends with Him and that made me realize that no matter what happens I’m gonna be okay. When you find Him, you will be okay, too. He has the answers to the questions that you’ve been asking your whole life, because He is the answer.

I know life is hard and things are complicated. I know that when we don’t get what we want or when we don’t get to where we think we need to go, it feels impossible to be okay and have joy. But I’m here to tell you that my life isn’t easy either. I’ll spare you the messy details, but ever since He came back into it, the joy I have felt has been insurmountable.

So I’m challenging you to fix your eyes on Him and watch YOUR life change. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
