The ‘Missing’ Posters FROM Has Been Dropping on Instagram Since 2022 Might Be the Biggest Easter Egg the Show Has Ever Left in Plain Sight

By

Fatima’s pin on the in-show map and Fatima’s Instagram missing poster don’t agree on where she’s from. Reddit noticed, and the r/FromSeries theory is that she’s the one lying.

Here’s the setup. Inside the Township, the post office / sheriff’s station holds a foldable US map covered in push pins. Each pin marks the real-world city a resident was traveling from (or last associated with) when they got pulled into Fromville. A separate paper nearby lists names with routes and speeds, “Ryan Route 90 71MPH” style, so the map is tracking origin, destination, and direction of travel at the moment each person was taken.

The pattern is strict: every arrival comes from the lower 48. No Alaska, no Hawaii, nobody international. Boulder, Colorado for Fatima. Bozeman, Montana for Donna. Austin, Texas for Kenny. The map is the only tangible record of the outside world that still exists inside the town, and residents have been adding to it as they arrive.

Then MGM+ started running the ‘missing’ poster campaign on the official FROM Instagram. Real-looking missing-person flyers for Donna, Kristi, Fatima and others, with working phone numbers fans can actually call. Some calls hit a recorded in-universe message. Some have reportedly been picked up by a person. The captions lean into the bit (“Donna may be a staple in #FROMville but her family needs her home… Help us #FindDonna”).

The flyers list a last-known city for each character. For most of the cast, the poster city matches the pin on the map. For Fatima, it doesn’t. Her map pin is on Boston. Her poster puts her in Boulder, CO.

Reddit’s read: characters place their own pins, so the map is a self-reported record, and Fatima put hers in the wrong place on purpose. The same threads have been flagging for months that some origins never got pinned at all (Donna’s Bozeman, Kenny’s Austin, Fatima’s Boulder are the three most cited), which fans have variously blamed on an incomplete map, a map the Township itself is manipulating, or a resident actively lying about where they came from.

The HD analyses of the map on r/FromTVEpix go further and argue the map explains the title. Visible text on the prop reads something close to “from the city to the forest and beyond,” which lines up with what the show keeps showing: people leave an ordinary city, pass through the forest (the downed tree, the road that loops back), and end up beyond. The pins are the “from.” The town is the “beyond.” The posters are the outside world still looking for people the map already logged as gone.

Season 5 is in production. The Instagram account keeps reposting the same flyers.
