Which Euphoria Character Leaves Season 3 Episode 7 In A Body Bag? The Case for Rue, Nate, Cassie, and Ali
HBO dropped the preview for “Rain or Shine” last week and there’s one question on everyone’s mind: Who’s being wheeled out in a body bag? We’re putting our money on these four characters that Levinson has laid the groundwork to axe.
Because the guillotine is hanging over multiple people’s necks at the same time, the suspense of seeing where it will drop (or potentially drop first) has us all waiting with baited breath for tonight’s episode.
Rue is the obvious pick. She’s a cat whose nine lives ran out ages ago, and she’s been avoiding death all season. The apple on her head. The feds. The strip club robbery. Being buried up to her neck with a polo mallet barreling towards her. Testing Alamo’s patience. Muling fentanyl balloons across the border. Defecting from Laurie’s gang. Getting caught by the feds. Her luck is bound to run out sometime. And let’s not forget that Levinson spun off Euphoria from an Israeli series of the same name, where the big twist is the reveal that the main character Hofit has been narrating the show from beyond the grave.
Nate (or what’s left of him at this point) is the runner up. He can’t make it through an episode without being physically assaulted or losing an appendage at this point. We do get a shot of him in the episode preview, which indicates that he’s not dead yet, but unless Cassie coughs up some major cash, and fast, he is running out of time. Considering his entire plot line is so disjointed from the rest of the series this season—Nate’s debt isn’t even really Cassie’s main motivator for joining OnlyFans, she’s ravenous for fame and attention—his death might honestly have the least emotional impact of all the options on the table.
Cassie is a shot in the dark. She’s signed multiple contracts under different names, and then burnt major bridges by deleting her OnlyFans account after landing the gig on LA Nights. Fame, recognition, and adoration are even more important to her than the money online sex work can provide. The confrontation with Maddy is already a fan favorite moment in the preview, and even though Maddy keeps a picture of Cassie on her ofrenda (signaling that she’s already dead to Maddy), her frenemy is worth more alive than dead when it comes to revenge. Watching Maddy steal the spotlight from Cassie would hurt more than losing Nate ever did.
Ali is the cop out. He’s Rue’s spiritual anchor and his “right now is a blessing” speech is carrying a lot of emotional weight in the preview. It looks like he’s smoking on a motel bed with a six pack on the nightstand. AA imagery is all over the preview. Killing him would send Rue to a new rock bottom, which is exactly what this season, and the series has been all about.
