A Music Producer Deleted His Invite to Taylor Swift’s Wedding Because He Thought the Text Was Spam

Jacknife Lee helped write one of Taylor Swift’s biggest songs, so when her manager texted him an invite to the wedding, he assumed it was a scam and never replied. His wife only found out he’d been invited after she saw the photos and asked why they weren’t there.
The text came from Swift’s manager, and Jacknife Lee decided it wasn’t real. “I guess I thought someone was trying to hack my address book or something,” he told his wife, Melissa Garner Lee, who laid the whole thing out in a HuffPost essay published July 8.
Lee, whose real name is Garret Lee, co-wrote Swift’s 2012 track “The Last Time.” That connection made him one of roughly 1,000 people invited to her July 3 wedding to Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden.
He skipped it without knowing he’d been asked. His defense, per Melissa: “it’s really hot out there” in New York, and “why would you even want to go?” She had an answer, telling him she’d hoped to hear the musical guests, since “Stevie Nicks was supposed to play.” Nicks performed. So did Paul McCartney.
Melissa wrote that she was “reeling in frustration” at first, then let it go over takeout from their favorite restaurant. After 32 years of marriage, she figured a missed wedding wasn’t the thing that would break them. “Still, it would’ve been fun to see her dress.”
