Reese Witherspoon Kept Her Boyfriend of 2 Years Out of Public View. She Made Their Debut at the Legally Blonde Premiere
Reese Witherspoon and Oliver Haarmann held hands at the New York premiere of “Elle” on June 23, the first time the couple has stepped out together at a major event after about 2 years together.
The two kept the relationship deliberately low-key since around 2024, with sources describing them as very committed and very much in love while avoiding PDA and the spotlight entirely. Showing up hand-in-hand at a splashy New York premiere is about as public as it gets.
The venue was the point. The premiere was for “Elle,” Prime Video’s “Legally Blonde” spinoff centered on a high-school version of Elle Woods, with Witherspoon executive producing. It hits Prime Video July 1. She arrived in a bright pink lace dress straight out of the Elle Woods playbook, and Haarmann coordinated in a pink tie and navy jacket. Her son Deacon was there too. E! News captioned the night by saying the couple has “no objections” to stepping out together, a nod to the franchise that built the room.

Haarmann, 58, is a German private equity financier who co-founded Searchlight Capital Partners and was previously a senior partner at KKR. He’s a Brown and Harvard Business School graduate and a minority owner of the New York Islanders. He was previously married to financier Mala Gaonkar.
Witherspoon, 50, was married to Ryan Phillippe from 1999 to their late-2000s divorce, and to talent agent Jim Toth from 2011 until their split was settled in 2023. She shares Ava and Deacon with Phillippe and son Tennessee with Toth.
