You Can Always Make Something Out Of Nothing

What about if we take something from nothing? What happens then?

The world is filled with opportunities for us to endure. However, we never seem to dig deep enough to find them. We may think of a great idea but are soon faced with disappointment. We lack originality and creativity because we are so sure that our ideas have been done before.

What about if we take something from nothing? What happens then?

Take the guy with the red paper clip for example. A Canadian blogger Kyle MacDonald went on craigslist for what seemed to be initially a harmless bit of fun. He managed to trade this red paperclip for a lady’s fish pen. The same day, he traded that fish pen for a hand-sculpted doorknob, the doorknob into a camp stove and he continued back and forth until his final trade he managed to settle for a house. Yes, a house!

Kyle is the perfect example of making something out of nothing. His useless and worthless paperclip changed his life and it totally paid off for him.

Now I’m not saying you should do the same. Just by applying Kyle’s simplistic ethic and creating your own something bigger you can achieve the same. You don’t need to be good at something in particular to turn it into a success. Think of the things you enjoy the most and see what opportunities there are out there and squeeze what you can out of them.

In this day in age, we are so fortunate to have things like the internet. And currently many platforms are a monkey making machine, and we don’t seem to take advantage of them enough. I’m not saying the internet won’t be around forever, but these chances could change if you don’t act now.

No matter how uninspired, uncreative and untalented you may think you are. You will always have an advantage because We are all different, in many different ways and no ideas that you have will ever be the same because every individual is unique in their own way, including you.

Ideas are only worthless if you don’t make something from them. Take action, and you could be pleasantly surprised what life might throw back at you. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
