WEGMANS IS COMING TO NEW YORK CITY AND THIS IS THE BEST NEWS EVER

If you’ve ever been to Western New York, people all around you will tell you that Wegmans is, perhaps, the best supermarket in the world. And as much as I hate to admit it (I’m from “downstate”), it’s true. (Okay, but like, to be completely honest, Stew Leonard’s is probably numero uno, but for this Rochester-based supermarket’s sake, let’s just pretend…for now…)

The Brooklyn Navy Yard will be the future home of NYC’s first Wegmans — but apparently it will be their smallest. (As if that truly matters right now!) The store will be 74,000 square foot (which the NYT reports as 25% smaller than their normal-sized ones. But hey, take what you can get, amirite?)

If you’ve never heard of Wegmans, you’re in a for a treat. Think of quality produce and awesome products at a low price. Whole Foods crossed with Trader Joe’s?

I’ll just say it now. I miss Wegmans subs. I miss the buffet and hell, I miss their beer fridge. I remember going to Wegmans really high once only to buy a block of cheese (???).

Step aside, Whole Foods. I don’t need you. All I need is the loving, warm embrace of Wegmans (and their subs). When my friends and I talk about WNY, one of the first things we mention is how much we miss Wegmans.

Goddamnit, Wegmans, it’s good to have you here. Welcome to New York City. Just don’t call soda, “pop”. Or else. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
