When it comes to important decisions we usually have difficulties with committing ourselves to big steps. We pretend to carefully weigh all the pros and cons while making a decision, but in reality we are usually led by something less rational.

How many times have you been stopped from acting? How many times have you made yourself be silent? How many times have you changed your mind before the very action? How many times have you hesitated to approach somebody? How many times have you not told important words?

Probably many.

But what really matters is how many times you have regretted for not being confident enough to get the things done and felt bad for that… I bet every single time.

So…what is the reason that paralyzes people and stops them from taking action?

It’s fear.

Fear of being rejected.
Fear of being criticized.
Fear of being sincere.
Fear of telling the truth.
Fear of ending already broken relationships.
Fear of leaving your comfort zone.
Fear of standing out from the crowd.
Fear of leaving the job you hate.
Fear of launching a business.
Fear of expressing the feelings to a person you love.
Fear of asking someone you like out.
Fear of taking responsibility.
Fear of being wrong.

We doubt ourselves, thinking we do not have enough knowledge or skills to perform well. We give in to our fears and sabotage ourselves before we even begin. Eventually we appear to be our own worst enemy.

So many ideas and thoughts have not been announced due to silly concerns and anxiety of being turned down. So many important words have not been said because of fear of being rejected. So many dreams and ambitions have not been fulfilled due to groundless fears of failure.

Fear literally makes people settle for mediocre life.

“Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears” — Les Brown

The feeling of fear is inherent to all human beings. However, only those who manage to overcome it can live genuinely happy lives and excel in their field.

You can read tons of articles and books on how to get rid of fears, reach your goals and live your life to the fullest, but eventually all the advice boils down to a single one. It is as easy as it gets.

This is important for you to hear, and it could be the driving force for getting your first blog post published or launching a successful business. It might even change the way you approach the challenges your life provides you with.

There is no better remedy than mere action. All you need to do is act.

“Thinking will not overcome fear but action will.” — W.Clement Stone

Usually your fears are associated with forces outside your comfort zone. As long as you do not challenge them, they will keep ruling your life. The golden rule for dealing with your fears is: Find you discomfort zone. Enter it!

Fear is what holds you back. Having made the first step towards vanquishment of your fears, you are already halfway towards your goal. Soon you will enjoy a great relief and a feeling of a small accomplishment will make you be proud of yourself.

After the fearless action you might end up being rejected and heavily criticized by your peers, friends or even family again. But if you are sure that the chosen path is one you would like to follow, you should stick to it. And as soon as you can prove to be resistant to all the pressure put on you and criticism heard, you are ready to make you life a little bit better and get one step closer to your dreams.

This journey might take a way longer than you expect, however, the sooner you start the sooner you will experience the positive changes. Every time you postpone meeting with your fears, you automatically postpone the realization of your dreams.
