Having to move on from someone you love is undoubtedly hard to go through.

You oscillated between feeling that you got this to breaking down and thinking that you would never be happy again. You wanted to put this behind you yet the lack of closure haunted you. You were heartbroken they weren’t willing to fight for the relationship and gave up the moment things turned rough. You believed they were the one that got away.

However, it has come to a point when you know that this can’t go on. This toxic cycle has to end. You can’t continue to give your all to this unrequited love. You can’t be with someone who doesn’t give you the respect you deserve.

Deep within you, you know that you deserve better. You know that with the right person, you don’t have to worry about being enough for they would love and accept you for who you are. You know that love doesn’t have to be so hard. You know that you have good memories together but for your own sake, it’s time for you to let them go. You know that the path towards recovery isn’t easy but you will eventually be okay.

Moving on requires determination and hard work. It is a conscious effort to wake up each day bravely and trying not to collapse back to bed in defeat. It is missing them every minute of the day and believes that this phrase shall pass soon. It is continuing through the day with a smile on your face when you feel like you can’t go on. It is showing up for work and all your obligations because you cannot afford to let the other aspect of your life to fall apart.

Moving on is feeling every ounce of your pain but choosing to rise above it. It is taking a small step each day and refuses to stay defeated. It is focusing on self-love and knowing that you deserve better. It is acknowledging that healing isn’t linear, and there would be days when the negativity overwhelms you.

Moving on is realizing how much better off you are without them. You promise to yourself that never again will you put someone’s needs above yours. Never again will you allow your life to revolve around one person. Never again will you chase after another person to the extent that you lost sight of yourself.

Moving on is to acknowledge that they were a part of your past and that now, you have to let them go. It is making the hard choices and trusting the timing of your life. It is putting yourself first and choosing optimism, peace, and love. It is accepting that as much as you loved each other in the past, you have to move on. It is to pick yourself up after every failure and try again.

Moving on is hard but you have faith that one day, you will rise again. You will close this chapter and move on for good. For this is the best decision you can make for yourself.
