Love Smiled Back At Me

And there was a time When love smiled at me and I winked back

There was a time

    When I was alone

And I dealt in the currency

    Of dying roses

There was a time

When I heard a hexed clock

And considered whether

    Time was dangerous and real

There was a time

When I sat in a dark room

And knew my surrounds

Before an Angel let the light in

There was a time

    When stardust touched my lips

And I kissed it back

    Into the wide either

And there was a time

    When love smiled at me

And I winked back

    While questioning its intentions

And all of these times

When I spoke with my eyes

And I tested the limits of freedom

While desiring just to be. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
