Stop Putting Yourself In Last Place

So what if you are failing and falling right now? So what if you aren't 'making it' just yet? So what if you aren't in love right now? That doesn't make you unworthy. That does not make you trash. So, please, stop making yourself into someone smaller than you are.

You don’t think you deserve a great life because you don’t think you’re good enough. You think that someone better should get it, someone smarter, someone better looking. You think of yourself as a slacker, as a loser, and as someone who is too damn sad to care.

You don’t think you are worth a wonderful life. Because you keep struggling and stumbling on the flat pavement. You keep trying and trying, and continue to fail. You don’t think that someone who fails deserves a thing. And you don’t think someone who is so down on themselves, deserves to smile.

But, beautiful soul, you do deserve it. You do deserve a glorious life.

Everyone fails. Everyone climbs and climbs, until they fall even further down the rabbit hole. Everyone looks in the mirror and grabs onto all the parts they hate about themselves. Everyone at times, feels like they are all alone. And everyone fights battles. No matter how big or how small.

You are not alone in your battles that you fight every day. You are not alone in feeling sick with self sabotage. And you are not alone in your destructive behavior. But you deserve more. Please believe me when I tell you that you were meant to be on this earth.

And please believe me when I tell you this: you are made up of magic. And even though you can’t see it now, even though you don’t want to believe it, that magic will come out one day and knock you off of your feet.

You have a beautiful, glorious heart. It feels and it breaks and it tears, but look! It’s still there. You are still here. Surviving. Breathing. Feeling.

And isn’t that a miracle?

You are nothing short of an enchanting miracle. And you are smart in your own way. You don’t have to get straight A’s or to excel in science to be worth something. You don’t have to look like a Victorias Secret model or go on a million diets, to be beautiful. You don’t have to have a significant other or a dating life to be lovable.

You don’t have to be stick thin to be dateable. You don’t have to make a million dollars per year, to be successful. You don’t have to have the best new car and the best new haircut to feel special. You don’t need any of that bullshit.

So what if you are failing and falling right now? So what if you aren’t ‘making it’ just yet? So what if you aren’t in love right now? That doesn’t make you unworthy. That does not make you trash. So, please, stop making yourself into someone smaller than you are. Stop paying so much attention to what you don’t have and to what everyone else has. Stop putting yourself in last place.

You have your heart. You have your soul. You have yourself. And guess what? You deserve to be in first place. And you deserve to treat yourself like you are something that is worth it. And you deserve to treat yourself like you are someone that is worthy of a beautiful, glorious, and magical life.

So please, stop acting like you already dead, and go and live the life that was given to you. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
